I was bored. I’ve done developing my character arc for act 1—don’t mind it, this is just how I work. It was raining and the atmosphere was just perfect write my novel. Am I right or am I right?
But did I write? Did I get my draft done?
Nah.
I just wanted to snuggle on my bed, watch some YouTube videos, and read some fantasy novels. But I didn’t do it either.
Instead, I opened my laptop, and I opened my Canva.
What should I make today?
I know, a Pinterest pin.
I had ideas running around my head, I saw some scenes there, I could hear my characters' interactions, and I had a good picture of the setting. But I haven’t finished my worldbuilding—at least I want to have a good grasp of the culture first.
My book is about a New York socialite who, after her eighteenth birthday party, was thrown into a fantasy world called—no, no, no. Not yet. I’m not ready to reveal it yet.
So, I decided to put them together into a photo collage. Here it is. It's just kind of fun that I can see some scenes by looking at those pictures.
Is it like that for you, too?
So yeah, there will be magic, there will be castles, mountains, different races and cultures, intrigues, war, blood, you name it.
Well. This is me. Making a Pinterest post instead of continuing my draft. But it’s okay to take a rest. Developing characters, outlining, worldbuilding are part of our job, too. You’ve done your job as a writer by doing these tasks. But if you don’t? it’s okay. Take a rest, take care.
